Who is the best farmer you know?
It might be a family member.
It might be a colleague or peer.
Hey, maybe it’s even you!
On this National Ag Day (right in the middle of National Ag Week), take a few moments to appreciate and say “thank you” to the best farmer you know.
I’ve been in agriculture a long time, from growing up on a farm, to a direct-to-consumer natural meat business, to writing grants for growers, to my current job as an executive coach to the farmers and agribusiness executives around the globe.
I love working in our industry, but it’s the people I meet that make it extra special.
I’m spending today with a special group of farmers, my longest-lasting peer group of ag professionals, Elevate Ag. This group has been through thick and thin over the last few years, and I’m excited to meet with them again (in person, socially distanced) right here in Indianapolis this week.
Beyond digging into the numbers and discussing solutions to pain points, there’s a special aspect to these peer group meetings. There’s the joy of new family members being born, the hardship of a bad crop, and the challenges working in a COVID-19 world that has impacted all facets of ag. And under it all, holding these folks up, is their commitment to bettering their operations and each other.
I’m honored to be spending 2 days with these great growers especially during Ag Day 2021.
So I’ll ask again, who’s the best farmer you know?
Take a moment today to let them know how much you appreciate them.
